Rock Tunnel ------------------
When you enter, you will notice there is only a small circle of light around you. To help you, there are maps of the Rock Tunnel: Click HERE for Floor 1 and HERE for Floor 2 . Have your Pokemon use Flash and the whole place lights up. As you enter head down and to the right and pick up the Repel. Then down in front of the trainer: Trainer Battle PokeManiac Pokemon Level Cubone Level 23 Slowpoke Level 23 Money Earned: P1104 Continue down and to the right and then north. Go down the ladder onto the next level. Head south and then west and take on the Pokemaniac: Trainer Battle PokeManiac Pokemon Level Slowpoke Level 25 Money Earned: P1200 Continue all the way to the left to find a Revive. Then backtrack a bit until you can head north. There will be a trainer in the entrance of this area: Trainer Battle Picnicker Pokemon Level Oddish Level 22 Bulbasaur Level 22 Money Earned: P440 Continue going up, and then to the right and up again to the next trainer: Trainer Battle PokeManiac Pokemon Level Charmander Level 22 Cubone Level 22 Money Earned: P1056 Keep going up and then to the right, and then up again. There are two trainers before the last ladder, going left from here brings you to one, and then you go up to get to the ladder. Going straight ahead from here and then left takes you past the other trainer and then to the ladder. Take them both on, the one on the left is listed first: Trainer Battle Hiker Pokemon Level Geodude Level 25 Money Earned: P900 Trainer Battle Hiker Pokemon Level Machop Level 20 Onix Level 20 Money Earned: P720 Head up the ladder after these two trainers. To the left of here is another trainer: Trainer Battle Hiker Pokemon Level Geodude Level 19 Geodude Level 19 Geodude Level 19 Machop Level 19 Money Earned: P684 Take the left hand path south past the rock in the middle. At the bottom is another trainer: Trainer Battle Hiker Pokemon Level Onix Level 20 Onix Level 20 Geodude Level 20 Money Earned: P720 Now head to the right and grab the Escape Rope. Backtrack a few steps and now head north to take on the next trainer: Trainer Battle Hiker Pokemon Level Geodude Level 21 Graveler Level 21 Money Earned: P756 Head north and down the ladder. Now head west, south a few steps and west again to find the next trainer: Trainer Battle Picnicker Pokemon Level Jigglypuff Level 21 Pidgey Level 21 Meowth Level 21 Money Earned: P420 (Differs if Meowth uses Payday) If you head south now, and then to then west you will find the Move Tutor who will teach your Pokemon Rock Slide. For more information check out the Move Tutors Guide . North of the Picnicker is an Elixer. Head south from here and then west onto the next trainer: Trainer Battle Hiker Pokemon Level Geodude Level 21 Geodude Level 21 Graveler Level 21 Money Earned: P756 North of him is another trainer: Trainer Battle Pokemaniac Pokemon Level Slowpoke Level 20 Slowpoke Level 20 Slowpoke Level 20 Money Earned: P960 Now head up the ladder. Head back south and then west to find our last trainer in the Rock Tunnel! Trainer Battle Picnicker Pokemon Level Meowth Level 20 Pidgey Level 20 Oddish Level 20 Money Earned: P400 (Differs if Meowth uses Payday) From here, head west a bit and then south and out of the cave! Now there are more trainers here, but if you are tired, sneak past them, head south and heal at the next town and then come back. Lavender Town
Lavender Town PokeMart Item Cost Great Ball 600 Super Potion 700 Revive 1500 Antidote 100 Paralyz Heal 200 Burn Heal 250 Ice Heal 250 Escape Rope 550 Super Repel 500 Not much to do in Lavender just yet. If you want, you can rename some of your Pokemon by visiting the Name Rater's house which is the house to the left of the PokeMart. Mr Fuji's house is the one above this and he has gone missing. Now there are a couple of things you can do now if you want, or you can save them until we come back. I will cover both when we return to Lavender, but if you want to now you can take on your Rival by going inside the Pokemon Tower. He is easier if you leave him until later though. He doesn't go anywhere. You can also go south and fight a few trainers south of Lavender. For now, I suggest you just head west out onto Route 8.

Heading from the PokeCenter to the left and down you will see a red building, this is the Game Corner. The little building on the right is where you exchange coins for prizes, and the bigger building to the right is the Gaming Room itself. Don't go in there just yet, instead head south and then west and then south (so we are as far south as we can go). Heading east along the bottom row of houses, the first is a diner. Head inside and talk to the guy in the top left hand corner. He will give you a Coin Case. This is used to store coins which are used in the Casino. Head back to the PokeCenter now. West of the PokeCenter, north of the Game Corner is the Celadon Mansion (Gamefreak Building) . Head inside and talk to the lady on the ground floor to the left when you enter. She will give you a key item, Tea. Now go back to the PokeCenter and to the right of the center is a gap, head up it and then follow it to the left. When you get to the gap head up and continue to the left. Enter the back of the Celadon Mansion. Head up all the stairs to the roof and enter the room on the top. On a table on the right side of the room is a Pokeball containing Eevee. Grab it and head out. When you exit the building head all the way to the left to find an Ether. Now head back to the Pokecenter. Continuing west from the Pokecenter, the next building after the Celadon Mansion building is the MegaMart. Prices for this are listed above. Stock up on anything you want. Also be sure to head to the Rooftop. Buy one of each drink. Give these drinks to the little girl. Give her a Fresh Water and you get TM16 (Light Screen). Give her a Soda Pop to get TM20 (Safeguard) and give her a Lemonade to get TM33 (Reflect). Finally, the building to the left of the Casino. Return here when you have Surf and Surf to the man. Talk to him and he will teach your Pokemon Softboiled. For more information check out the Move Tutors Guide. Now that that's all done let's head to the gym. Heal up and then head to just south of the diner mentioned above. South of this is a tree. Use Cut on it and make your way into the Celadon Gym which uses Grass type Pokemon. Enter the gym and move straight ahead and you will find two trainers: Trainer Battle Lass Pokemon Level Bellsprout Level 23 Weepinbell Level 23 Money Earned: P368 Trainer Battle Beauty Pokemon Level Oddish Level 21 Bellsprout Level 21 Oddish Level 21 Bellsprout Level 21 Money Earned: P1512 On the left hand side of the gym is another trainer: Trainer Battle Beauty Pokemon Level Bellsprout Level 24 Bellsprout Level 24 Money Earned: P1728 On the right hand side is another: Trainer Battle Picnicker Pokemon Level Bulbasaur Level 24 Ivysaur Level 24 Money Earned: P480 Cut one of the bushes into the area with the leader, and there are three other trainers listed in this order: the bottom trainer (she also has a Hyper Potion), the trainer to the left of the leader and the trainer to the right. Trainer Battle Cooltrainer F Pokemon Level Bellsprout Level 22 Oddish Level 22 Weepinbell Level 22 Gloom Level 22 Ivysaur Level 22 Money Earned: P792 Trainer Battle Beauty Pokemon Level Exeggcute Level 24 Money Earned: P1728 Trainer Battle Lass Pokemon Level Oddish Level 23 Gloom Level 23 Money Earned: P368 Heal up, and then talk to the leader, Erika: Celadon City Gym: Erika Speciality: Grass Pokemon Information Victreebel Level: 29 Type: Grass/ Poison Tangela Level: 24 Type: Grass Vileplume Level: 29 Type: Grass/ Poison Items Received: - TM19 Giga Drain - Rainbow Badge - Pokemon up to Lv. 50 will obey - Strength can be used outside of battle Erika isn't exactly a pushover if you don't have the right Pokemon. Here's where all those whose chose Charmander finally get their worth as he will roast the Grass types here. Otherwise try using a Vulpix/ Growlithe caught just to the east of Celadon. Erika's Pokemon uses moves which can paralyze and poison your Pokemon so bring some Paralyz Heals and Antidotes. She will also use Hyper Potions and Full Heals. Tangela and Vileplume have pretty good Defense so will be a bit harder to take down. Tangela will also use Ingrain to recover health as well as Giga Drain. Vileplume also has Petal Dance which causes pretty decent damage but it will confuse Vileplume after three turns. After you have beaten Erika, heal up because now we have to go deal with the Game Corner. Head there next. Firstly, in the bottom right hand corner, a machine will charge Y50 to add the pictures of the Pokemon in your party to your trainer card. You can choose between Color, Black Outline, Brown or Black and White. Here is my trainer card: This is purely for looks and has no effect on gameplay. Now, make sure you have the Coin Case before going around and collecting coins. Also make sure you don't talk to the Rocket standing against the wall at the top yet. Here's how to get started with the whole Coin business. Go around and talk to everyone sitting at gaming machines. This should get you 50 Coins. Now systematically walk around pressing A on every square in this room because you find a further 240 Coins. Be sure to get the 100 Coins two spaces to the left of the photo machine. If you want to simply buy Coins then the attendant on the right will sell you 50 Coins for Y1000 or 500 Coins for Y10000. You can also try your luck at the slot machines where you bid either 1, 2 or 3 Coins by pressing down. The more you bid, the better your chances. Then press A when you want the reels to stop. By connecting the symbols in horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines you win Coins depending on what you get. I personally have never bothered with the machines, and find it easier to save up money and simply buy the Coins. Now why on earth are we trying to save Coins? Well head next door into the little room. Here is where you exchange your Coins for prizes. Left Attendant Item Cost Smoke Ball 800 coins Miracle Seed 1000 coins Charcoal 1000 coins Mystic Water 1000 coins Yellow Flute 1600 coins Middle Attendant Item Cost Abra 120 coins Clefairy 750 coins Pinsir 2500 coins Scyther 2500 coins Dratini 4600 coins Porygon 6500 coins Right Attendant PokeMart Item Cost TM13 (Ice Beam) 4000 coins TM23 (Iron Tail) 3500 coins TM24 (Thunderbolt) 4000 coins TM30 (Shadowball) 4500 coins TM35 (Flamethrower) 4000 coins You might have to leave obtaining these until later in the game when you have more money. For now head back into the Game Corner and talk to the Rocket standing against the wall. This will prompt a fight: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Raticate Level 20 Zubat Level 20 Money Earned: P640 After beating him, press A on the poster he was looking at and select yes to flick the switch. This reveals a secret stairway down! Go down the stairs and into Rocket's Secret Hideout.

Rocket Hideout
Here are Maps for Rocket's HQ: Floor 1 , Floor 2, Floor 3 , Floor 4. On the first floor, head down and to the left, fight the Rocket there: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Raticate Level 21 Raticate Level 21 Money Earned: P672 Continue left and down and grab the Escape Rope off the table. Head back to the start and head down the stairs to B2. Head down and to the left to fight the next Rocket: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Zubat Level 17 Koffing Level 17 Grimer Level 17 Zubat Level 17 Raticate Level 17 Money Earned: P544 Head up from him and down the stairs. Head down the path directly below this and take on the next Rocket: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Machop Level 21 Machop Level 21 Money Earned: P672 Continue south and grab TM21 - Frustration. Now head back up and to the left and down to the maze. When you stand on the little pads you move in that direction until you stop on the yellow pads. (Much like in Chip's Challenge...does anyone remember that?) Anyway, firstly enter the right hand path and step on the pad pointing down to grab a Rare Candy. The only thing to do from here is to head up, so head up. Now go to the middle of the two directional arrows pointing either way and step onto the left one. Now head down and take the right arrow. Head back two squares and down and then to the left. Don't stand on any pads. Now you should see two arrow pads pointing right, step on the top one to take you to the Rocket: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Rattata Level 20 Drowzee Level 20 Raticate Level 20 Money Earned: P640 Head south and then to the left and pick up the Blackglasses. Head north and then down the stairs to B4. Head directly left and pick up the Elixer on the table. Head back to the right and then north and then left and grab TM49 - Snatch. Then take on the Rocket (this fight is a must to progress with the story): Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Koffing Level 21 Zubat Level 21 Money Earned: P672 After beating this Rocket he will drop the Lift Key. Pick it up and head back up the stairs. Then head north up the warp pad, and then north again up the warp pad. Head right and up and the right and go up the stairs to B2. You might want to heal at this point if you are low on health. Now on B2, head to the left and take the lower pad. Grab the Moon Stone just below you. From the yellow pad you landed on, head left, up, right, down, right, up and go all the way to the right to grab the X Speed. Head back to where the Moon Stone was. Just below where the Moon Stone was, take the warp pad right and backtrack to grab TM12 - Taunt. **From the yellow pad near here, head two space to the right, three spaces down, and step onto the warp pad on the right, which points down. From this yellow warp pad, head directly left onto the warp pad pointing left. From this yellow pad head to the right and down to the two warp pads pointing to the left.* Take the bottom pad and collect the Super Potion. From the Super Potion head north and take either warp pad. Now read from ** to * and return to the two warp pads pointing to the left again. Now take the top warp pad. Head one square to the right and one down onto the warp pad heading to the right. Head up and to the right. Head up and up the stairs onto B1. There are two trainers in this room, the bottom one listed first: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Rattata Level 19 Raticate Level 19 Raticate Level 19 Rattata Level 19 Money Earned: P608 Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Grimer Level 20 Koffing Level 20 Koffing Level 20 Money Earned: P640 In the top left hand corner of this room is a Hyper Potion. Grab that and head back down the stairs to B2. From the stairs head south and then east and into the lift. Take it to B1. Take on the Rocket just outside: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Grimer Level 22 Koffing Level 22 Money Earned: P704 Head north and take on the next Rocket: Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Drowzee Level 21 Machop Level 21 Money Earned: P672 Now definitely head up and out and heal. On B1 head to the right and down and south past the last two Rockets listed and back to the elevator. This time go to B4. When you exit head to the left and grab the Calcium on the table. Head back to the right and up. There are two more Rockets you have to beat before meeting the leader of Team Rocket, the one on the left is listed first (you must talk to these guys to battle): Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Sandshrew Level 23 Sandslash Level 23 Ekans Level 23 Money Earned: P736 Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Ekans Level 23 Sandshrew Level 23 Arbok Level 23 Money Earned: P736 After beating both of these guys the doors will open. Head up and face the Rocket boss: Trainer Battle Giovanni Pokemon Level Onix Level 25 Rhyhorn Level 24 Kangaskhan Level 29 Money Earned: P2900 Giovanni is a Boss essentially, but not as hard. The toughest Pokemon is Kangaskhan, I would suggest using your strongest Pokemon against it or use a fighting move on it. Once you have beaten him grab the Silph Scope he leaves behind. Head to the lift, go to B1 and leave the Rocket HQ. From outside the Game Corner head all the way to the right, cut the bush, head north and in the top right hand corner is a hidden PP Up. Now before we leave Celadon there is one more thing to do, head west out onto Route 16.

Lavender Town
With your new Silph Scope, you can see ghosts in the Pokemon Tower! So let's head inside the large tower on the right hand side of town. On the first floor, simply head up and to the right up the stairs to the next floor. Head up a bit and you will see your Rival waiting to fight: Rival Battle If you chose: Bulbasaur | Charmander | Squirtle Pokemon Level Type Pidgeotto Level 25 Normal/ Flying Kadabra Level 20 Psychic Gyarados Level 22 Water/ Flying Exeggcute Level 23 Grass/ Psychic Charmeleon Level 25 Fire Money Earned: P900 Pidgeotto now knows Whirlwind which will switch between your Pokemon. This can often be annoying more than anything. If your Rival has Gyarados it will use Thrash which can do big damage but it will confuse itself after ad while. Electric Pokemon can take both of these down pretty easy. Exeggcute is pretty easy, anything basically can take it down and it doesn't do much, as is Growlithe. Ground, rock or water attacks will take care of him. Kadabra has low defense so target that with some Physical attacks, but be careful of its high Spec. Atk. which can do quite a bit of damage. The starter should be pretty easy to handle, simply use an opposite element or look at the battle chart to find a good attack against them. Head up to the next level and this is where the fun begins. Pokemon Tower 3F, 4F, 5F Wild Pokemon Pokemon Method Rate Gastly Walk 90% Haunter Walk 1% Cubone Walk 9% Pokemon Tower 6F Wild Pokemon Pokemon Method Rate Gastly Walk 85% Haunter Walk 6% Cubone Walk 9% Pokemon Tower 7F Wild Pokemon Pokemon Method Rate Gastly Walk 75% Haunter Walk 15% Cubone Walk 10% Head up and fight the Channeler: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 23 Money Earned: P736 Grab the Escape Rope next to her and head back and then down and the right. There are two Channelers here, fight the top one first, then the bottom: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 24 Money Earned: P768 Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 22 Money Earned: P704 From her head east and up to the next level. Again two Channelers, the top and bottom are: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 23 Gastly Level 23 Money Earned: P736 Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 22 Money Earned: P704 Grab the Max Ether between them. Take the path just above the Max Ether and head left to grab the Awakening. South of the Awakening is a Great Ball. Head up to the next Channeler: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 24 Money Earned: P768 Continue up the stairs. Head up, right and take on the next Channeler: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 22 Money Earned: P768 Below her is another Channeler but she doesn't want to battle. In the centre of this room is a white area, and if you step onto it it will fully heal your Pokemon. In the center is a Cleanse Tag so grab that. To the left of this area is another channeler: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 22 Money Earned: P704 South of her is another: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 22 Money Earned: P736 To the left of her is a Nugget. Head to the right side of the room and above the stairs is...take a guess: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Haunter Level 23 Money Earned: P736 Head up the stairs. Now head south and grab the X Accuracy. Head up and around and fight the next three Channelers: Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 22 Gastly Level 22 Gastly Level 22 Money Earned: P704 Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 24 Money Earned: P768 Trainer Battle Channeler Pokemon Level Gastly Level 24 Money Earned: P768 Before the exit grab the Rare Candy. As you exit, you will find a ghost. Silph Scope will detect it and you will be put into battle against Cubone's mother, a Lv. 30 Marowak. You can't catch it so make it rest in peace and move on. There are three Team Rocket Members guarding something... Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Zubat Level 25 Zubat Level 25 Golbat Level 25 Money Earned: P800 Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Koffing Level 26 Drowzee Level 26 Money Earned: P832 Trainer Battle Team Rocket Grunt Pokemon Level Zubat Level 23 Zubat Level 23 Rattata Level 23 Raticate Level 23 Money Earned: P736 After they all run off, talk to Mr. Fuji. He will take you back to his house. Talk to him and he will thank you for saving him and give you the Pokeflute. Now make your way all the way back up to the top of the Tower and use the Itemfinder where Mr. Fuji stood. A few stars will fly about and you'll find a Soothe Bell. There are a range of things to do now, you could head into Saffron City, but I think this is harder than what this walkthrough does so I will cover it after Fuchsia City. I suggest going to Fuchsia first, and there are two ways to get there, both involving waking up the sleeping Snorlax using the Pokeflute recently gifted by Mr. Fuji. I think that the Cycling Road is easier, and Route 12 is harder. I will start with the Cycling Road way (Route 16) and then cover the Bridge way (Route 12). It is up to you which way to go, going both ways is often good for training and getting everything. If you choose Route 16, read below, if you choose Route 12, skip ahead to Route 12.
