Head to the right and use Strength
on the boulder to push it into the
hole. Head back to the entrance and
head north. Pick up the Ice Heal.
Head north but don't go down the
ladder, instead head right and push
the second boulder into the nearby
hole. Jump down that hole. Push the
rock again into the nearby hole. Do
this once more and jump down the
hole. You should land in water and
the current will carry you to another
area.
Surf up, and back onto land. Head
left and down and pick up the Ultra
Ball. Head back north and up the
next ladder you come to. Go around
the path, skip the ladder and water
(it's too rough to surf anyway), until
you get to a boulder puzzle.
Labelling the boulders from left to
right, A, B, C & D (C & D are the
two together), push B all the way to
the left. Push A down into the hole.
Then push D all the way up, and C
down one place, then left into the
hole. Jump down the hole, and the
water should now be calm. Surf
north. Now be sure to have PLENTY
of Pokeballs, and be well healed. We
are about to try to catch our first
legendary - Articuno.

Rock moves are great to take
Articuno down with a 4x weakness,
Electric and Fire also work nicely.
Legendary Pokemon are quite hard
to catch, but if you get it down to
very low health and inflict it with a
status such as sleep, or paralysis it
makes it a lot easier. All legendaries
are very strong, and there is only
ONE in the entire game, so be sure
to catch it. DO NOT USE YOUR
MASTERBALL. There are much
tougher Pokemon you should use it
on.
After beating or catching Articuno,
Surf and head up the ladder.
Continue around and down to the
next ladder up. Head to the right
and grab the Pearl. Continue to the
right and go up the ladder. To the
left of this ladder is a Water Stone.
Head back down the ladder and
north up the next ladder. South and
to the right is a revive. Head north
of the ladder and push the boulder
into the hole next to it. Jump down
it and push it again into the next
hole and follow it. Again, you should
have landed in water.
Head up the steps to the right onto
land, and head up the ladder. Head
up the next ladder. Head south and
up the next ladder. Head south and
out of the Seafoam Islands! Continue
west to Cinnabar, along the way

There is a bit to do before we can
take on the gym, so firstly let's head
to the lab to the left of the
Pokecenter. In the first room there
is someone who want to trade his
Electrode for your Raichu, and
another who wants to trade her
Tangela for your Venonat. If you
make this trade, Tangela will have
Stardust attached.
In the second room there is a Move
Tutor who will teach your Pokemon
Metronome. For more information
check out the Move Tutors Guide . In
the third room there is a man who
will trade his Seel for your Ponyta.
There is also a Scientist. Talk to him
and give him one of your fossils,
either the Dome/Helix Fossil or the
Old Amber. Walk outside and go
back in and talk to him again. He
will give you the ressurected
Pokemon. Do this again for your
other fossil.
Old Amber will resurrect Aerodactyl
The Dome Fossil will resurrect
Kabuto
The Helix Fossil will resurrect
Omanyte
Once you've done all this let's head
to Pokemon Mansion in order to gain
access to the gym.

On the first floor grab the Protein
and the Escape Rope and head up
to the second floor. Don't touch the
statue, instead walk right and down
and grab the Zinc. Then head back
up. Taking the right hand path will
lead to a Calcium. Take the left
hand path and then head up the
stairs. Head left and grab the Iron.
Then head back to the statue on
this floor and hit the switch. Head
down the newly opened path and
battle the scientist.
Jump down the ledge and battle the
next Scientist and grab the Carbos.
Head down the stairs. Head north
and to the left. Then head down
into the area with another Burglar.
Activate the switch on the statue in
this area. Head to the left and grab
the Full Restore. Head back to the
entrance of this level and head
north. Battle the Burglar and head
up into the small room and flick the
switch. Head west into the next
room and grab TM14 - Blizzard.
Continue west and grab the Secret
Key off the table. Head south and
grab TM22 - Solarbeam. Now use an
Escape Rope or retrace your steps to
get out. You can now take on
Cinnabar Gym!

Blaine uses pretty strong Pokemon.
All of them have Fire Blast, a very
powerful attack. A strategy I like to
use is to use a sleep inducing move
and then a water Pokemon. Blaine
will also use Hyper Potions and Full
Heals to make it a bit trickier.
When you walk outside, Bill will
come running over to you inviting
you to Island One of the Sevii
Islands. It is optional at this point,
and if you choose to accompany him
you can follow the Sevii Islands
Walkthrough . If you choose to go
make sure you are stocked up
because you'll be there for a while.
If you choose 'no' Bill will just wait
for you in the Pokecenter. Now if you
went or not you will now be back to
take on the next gym...the final
gym...in Viridian City!

This time your Rival is much
stronger. However once again Electric
and Water Pokemon do really well.
Alakazam is very tough this time
with Psychic. However if you were
lucky enough to have caught a
Caterpie back in Viridian forest...and
leveled it up a bit it will have Silver
Wind. Two of these and Alakazam's
gone, even if it uses Calm Mind. A
strong physical attack will also work.
His starter is tough also, but the
opposite element should be able to
take care of him. Once you have
beaten him, heal up if you need to
and continue west into Route 23.

When you enter, the first thing to do
is push the boulder to the right and
onto the switch. Head back to the
entrance and up the stairs to the
north. Head right and up and fight
the trainer. Then head down the
stairs to the right and follow the
path. Push the boulder to grab one
item, exit the cave and come back to
grab the other. They contain TM02 -
Dragon Claw and a Rare Candy.
Head back to where the Cooltrainer F
was and this time head left down
the stairs. Take on the next trainer
and then head up the ladder to the
second floor. Head south and push
the next boulder onto the switch.
Head north and up the stairs. Fight
the trainer and continue following
the path. When you get to the first
set of stairs, head down and to the
left and grab TM37 - Sandstorm.
Head back to the stairs and head
right. Take on the trainer if you
want.
Continue right and up. Head to the
left and grab the Full Heal and take
on the next trainer. Then head
north, then to the right and take on
the next trainer and grab TM07 -
Hail. Then head up the ladder near
here to the third floor. Head up and
to the right and down to grab the
Revive. Now push the boulder up
(not all the way to the top otherwise
you won't be able to push it into
the gap) and to the left. Push it in
the gap and onto the switch. If you
fail at this simply go up a ladder
and back down and it resets.
Head out of this little area and head
down to grab TM50 - Overheat. If
you want a Dire Hit head up the
ladder in the little area, but you will
have to push the boulder again.
Otherwise head back to the right
and back to where you found the
boulder. From the ladder head to
the left and up the stairs and take
on the trainer. Follow this raised
path around. Then head down and
take on the two Cooltrainers.
Head to the bottom right hand
corner of this area and go through
the little gap. Head all the way to
the right and push the boulder in
the hole. Jump in after it. Push the
boulder all the way to the left onto
the switch. Head up the stairs onto
the raised land and head right up
the ladder. Head up and fight the 2
vs. 2 battle. Continue up. Head to
the right. Here is a tutor who will

When you arrive at Indigo Plateau,
you should start looking at what you
will need to fight 5 consecutive
battles without the use of a

Most of Lorelei's Pokemon are half
water, so your best bet is to use
Electric attacks. Fighting also works
well, but fire is only good against
Jynx. Hail is typically her first move.
Jynx uses Lovely Kiss to put your
Pokemon to sleep, so have the
Pokeflute or wake it up. Lapras has
Confuse Ray which can be a
hinderance. Once you have defeated
Lorelei, the door will open up to the
next Elite. Use your items to fix up
your party before going through. It
is your choice if you want to save
here or not, but if you do and you
can't beat the other Elites, the only
way back to Indigo Plateau is to faint
all your Pokemon.

type attacks should easily take down
his two Onix. Hitmonchan and
Hitmonlee should be able to be
taken down with either Flying or
Psychic attacks, but both have high
Special Defense. Machamp has good
Defense and awesome Attack stats so
be careful with it. Its Cross Chop
can do some major damage, but
again a strong Psychic shouldn't
have too much trouble. Once you
have beaten Bruno, head through to
the next Elite.

This time it's Agatha. Be careful -
remember Ground attacks no longer
can hit Haunter and Gengar because
of their Levitate ability. If you have
a fast Psychic then you can take
them out all pretty easy because of
their double weakness to Psychic,
however Ghost attacks will also do
decent damage to your Psychic.
Gengar also uses Double Team and
Toxic which can be a huge
hinderance. Try a Pokemon with Roar
or Whirlwind. Psychic and Electric
attacks should take Golbat out in
one hit. Arbok uses Sludge Bomb
which can also Poison your Pokemon.
Try maybe a Steel type which is
resistant. Agatha switches a lot and
will use Full Restores. When you
have defeated Agatha, head on
through to the next Elite.

Finally, it's Lance. This will be the
hardest battle. All of his Pokemon
have Hyper Beam which can do a lot
of damage! However, his Pokemon
must then recharge so that gives
you an opportunity to attack or
revive/recover your Pokemon.
Gyarados should be able to be taken
down with an Electric attack as it is
4x weak to it. The Dragonairs
shouldn't be too hard to take down
with an Ice attack. Aerodactyl is very
fast! Use a Water or Electric attack,
but it will most likely get an attack
in first. Dragonite is a real
challenge. Safeguard means you
wont be able to put any status effect
on it. Again, Dragonite is 4x weak to
ice but if its health gets too low
Lance will use a Full Restore, so try
to find a move which can do over
half damage in one hit to finish it
off. After beating Lance you still
have one more battle...the
Champion!

Your Rival got there first! Oh well,
you'll just have to defeat him to
become the new Champion! He has
a lot of Full Restores so try to find
moves which can take them down
from full health or from half health
to finish them off. Pidgeot should
easily be taken out with a decent
Electric attack. It's Sand Attack can
become a nightmare if it uses it a
few times. Rhydon should be taken
down with Grass and Water attacks.
With Exeggutor, try a Bug attack or a
strong Fire attack. It can cause
trouble with Sleep Powder and Giga
Drain. Gyarados can also be taken
out with an Electric being 4x weak to
it. Arcanine can be taken out using
a strong Water type, Flamethrower
can do some decent damage (This is
a very elemental battle!). Alakazam
can be a challenge too. If you use a
Bug attack again it should be fine, or
try using a powerful Physical attack.
His starter will be probably the
toughest out of all of them. Be wary
of Fire Blast/Solar Beam/Hydro
Pump. Again use an effective
element against it and it should be
